A rally was held outside the Ocean County Courthouse in Toms River, New Jersey, following the shooting death of Ruby, a French bulldog. The incident occurred while Ruby was being cared for by her owner's stepfather, Jeffrey Lentz, who has been charged with animal cruelty and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Nicole Ingrafia, Ruby's owner, discovered her pet had been shot after initially being told the dog died in an animal attack. The rally aimed to maintain public attention on the case ahead of Lentz's next court hearing, which is scheduled for January.

There is a rally this afternoon in Tom's River in honor of a beloved pet. They want justice for Ruby, a French Bulldog shot and killed while being watched by a relative. News 12 New Jersey's Chris Keating is joining us from outside the Ocean County Courthouse. Chris. This rally, taking place outside of the Ocean County Courthouse and the prosecutor's office, is designed as a way to keep pressure on the man accused of shooting, killing Ruby the French Bulldog. That shooting took place in Berkeley Township. The man accused is Jeffrey Lentz, who also just happens to be the dog owner's stepfather. Ruby the French Bulldog belongs to Nicole Ingrafia. She says that back in October, she left Ruby with her mother and Lentz while she attended a wedding. However, while at that wedding, she got a phone call that her dog had been killed in an attack by another animal. However, after retrieving Ruby's remains, Ingrafia took her dog to a veterinarian who performed an x-ray, which showed that Ruby had been shot in the face. The investigation started by Berkeley Township Police, and they would charge Lentz with animal cruelty and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. I just want accountability. I want to raise awareness for my baby girl because her life mattered, and they took everything from me, and they're not giving me any answers. My parents, and I'm heartbroken. Ingrafia has never known details as to why exactly Ruby was shot inside of her mother and stepfather's home. She's hoping this keeps pressure on the case.
