She landed her first major role in a film when she was 14. Now, aged 51, renowned French actress Judith Godrej has spoken out for the first time about events behind the scenes. She has accused filmmaker Benoit Jacot of rape. When I started out as a child, I was so docile. I was so indoctrinated. Soon she was in what she said was a relationship with Jacot, 25 years her senior, which quickly included sexual violence. Sexual abuse, yes. And sexual sadism. Immediately. Yes, immediately. Yes, of course. On Wednesday, Jacot responded to the accusations in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde. I was drawn to her. It was I, without irony, who was under her spell for six years. I think that if she hadn't left, I'd still be with her today. Speaking on a French radio station on Thursday, Godrej made another shock revelation. She alleged another director abused her when she was a minor. His name, Jacques Doyon. It was in a love scene, a sex scene between him and me. We did 45 takes. I took off my jumper, I'm shirtless, and then he's groping me, making out with me. She says the events took place in the house of Jane Birkin, Doyon's partner at the time. It was an extremely painful situation for her. Godrej's allegations are the latest in an upswing of sexual assault allegations in the French film industry, challenging what's been denounced as a culture of complacency.
