Power outages affected 14,000 homes, with crews working to restore electricity, while heavy rainfall and lightning strikes caused damage in the southeast, including Brisbane and the Darling Downs.

Further north, residents in Rockhampton are evacuating as floodwaters from a recent cyclone are expected to swell the Fitzroy River. In western Queensland, farmers are assessing the impact of flooding, with over 68,000 livestock losses reported. Authorities continue to monitor conditions and urge residents to prepare for ongoing weather risks.

One particular location, Waterford Alert, which is just north of Logan, picking up 48 mil in just a half hour with some of the storms as they move through. 14,000 homes were without power across the southeast. Last night, we saw a lot of lightning. In fact, a quarter of a million lightning strikes were recorded that come through the south and the southeast of Queensland, and they caused quite a bit of damage. This morning, 1,000 were still left in the dark. Crews are aiming to have this all back up and running, hopefully by early this evening. And this afternoon, more storms swept through, this time across Brisbane. The focal point as we're heading to the rest of the afternoon and evening will probably shift to more inland areas of the southeast, including the Darling Downs and Grindelwald. Further north, residents are also on edge. While it isn't raining in Rockhampton, people are evacuating after last week's cyclone dumped enough rain to fill catchments, and that water is set to trickle down and fill the Fitzroy River by tomorrow. This flooding can bring uncertainty to our community. We're asking residents to think about what they need to do in preparation for this type of event. Seven days since ex-tropical cyclone Koji and the full effects are still yet to be felt. Heading towards Sunday, Monday, we may see this come up to just over 8m, which is just under the major flood level. In western Queensland, the premier touched down in Julia Creek. Farmers are only now understanding the full loss of livestock after they were inundated with flooding after Christmas. 68,700 stock losses. There will be more to come. And right now, there's still graziers who haven't been able to take the time to do that. As Queenslanders hope for the best before the season is over.
