Fatmata Binta, a chef and culinary innovator originally from Sierra Leone and based in Ghana, has been appointed as the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Goodwill Ambassador for Africa. In her new role, Binta will use her platform to advocate for women, farmers, and youth, as well as promote Africa's heritage foods and underused crops.

Binta is known for founding the Dine on a Mat Nomadic Restaurant and the Fulani Kitchen Foundation, which supports small-scale female farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. Her appointment highlights her ongoing commitment to amplifying the voices of rural communities and advancing sustainable food systems across the continent.
