On the social media platform X, Ukraine's Minister for Infrastructure called their protests political provocation aimed at dividing Ukraine and Poland. He reminded people Ukraine's grain is being harvested under rocket attacks and its export is a matter of survival. The EU has already seen sustained protest from European farmers. They've offered them subsidies, but Polish farmers want Ukrainian imports banned and new EU restrictions on the use of fertilizers and pesticides scrapped. Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who calls himself the most pro-Ukrainian of leaders, has remained quiet on the protests. With 77% of polls backing the farmers' demands, Tusk can't risk antagonising voters when he has such a slim majority.
