Convicted for gang rape by an Italian court in 2017, former Milan forward Rubinho is yet to serve any of his nine-year sentence as Brazil does not extradite its nationals. And the revelation that his close friend Neymar had been bankrolling Alves during his trial has further stoked outrage against the Brazilian football community and its apparently conciliatory attitude towards sexual violence.
