The conviction is based on Muglu's comments accusing Istanbul's Chief Public Prosecutor of conducting politically motivated investigations against opposition figures. 

Muglu, who faces several ongoing trials that could result in a total prison term of up to seven years, was first arrested on corruption charges, leading to widespread protests across the country. Authorities have since detained more than a thousand people involved in the demonstrations.

Turkish authorities have since arrested more than a thousand people who took part in the mass uprising.
