Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, was recently the target of an anti-Semitic incident while filming in Mississippi. The alleged attacker, Patrick McClintock, was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace after reportedly shouting anti-Semitic remarks and throwing coins at Portnoy.

Portnoy expressed surprise at the arrest but agreed with the police's decision to charge McClintock. He declined to press charges himself, stating that the public consequences for McClintock, including his identification with the incident and withdrawal from Mississippi State University, were sufficient. The incident and its implications for freedom of speech and responsibility will be discussed in an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning segment.

We also want to give you a quick update on a story we talked about yesterday. The arrest following the anti-Semitic incident targeting Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. I texted with him last night and he tells me he was surprised by that arrest, but he does think that the police got it right when they charged the alleged attacker with disturbing the peace. That's the alleged attacker on your screen, 20-year-old Patrick McClintock. He's accused of shouting anti-Semitic comments and throwing coins at Portnoy. This all happened last week as Portnoy filmed a pizza review in Mississippi. Take a look. But so far I like it. So a little clarification, I sat down with Portnoy for CBS Sunday morning before this incident happened. Some of what we talked about was relevant and we got into it. Then last night I texted him for his thoughts about the arrest. Did he agree with it or not? He said he does agree with it. I do not think freedom of speech covers throwing fill-in-the-blank at somebody you hate and creating a potentially volatile situation. Portnoy also said he himself declined to press charges, adding his face, the attacker's, being attached to this incident for the rest of his life should be punishment enough. McClintock was released on a $2,500 bond and reportedly he's already dropped out of Mississippi State. So there are consequences that he's suffering for all this. The big question with Portnoy, because of course he's got his own controversial history, is can a guy whose life and career have been based on crossing lines in other areas now draw a line when it comes to anti-Semitism? That's really the heart of our conversation, which will be airing Sunday on Sunday morning. I can't wait to see it. And it really is an interesting question. I'm all for freedom of speech, of course, but I do think it comes with responsibility. And I don't think we talk about that enough. It's more than just yelling fire in a building. We've all heard that. We've all heard that example. It's so much bigger than that. Yeah, it is bigger than that. And we're figuring it out as a society. And I think Dave is actually really thoughtful on where the line is. That's a tough question to answer. Listen, I feel like you can draw the line regardless of your past, but then you also have to have some self-reflection. Look in the mirror. Are you also drawing the line for yourself on things that you may be saying about others? I'm looking forward to that conversation. It's going to be interesting. I really am.
