Police representatives cited insufficient preparation time and described the event as an unprecedented public risk. Meanwhile, a pro-Israel group’s application to hold a protest at the Sydney Harbour Tunnel was denied due to time constraints and safety concerns. The Palestine Action Group has also indicated willingness to delay their march by three weeks and follow a previously used route. The court's decision on the original march application is expected to be delivered soon.

Sandra, they will have to wait the night. In the past few minutes the court here is adjourned with Justice Belinda Rigg reserving her judgment until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. Now in terms of the closing submissions we heard a short time ago, lawyers for the protest organisers, the Palestine Action Group, say such is the groundswell of support for this rally that it will proceed irrespective of a prohibition order arguing it would actually be safer for the public if police approved it and facilitated it. From the other side, lawyers for the Police Commissioner say there has been too little time to prepare, calling it unprecedented in terms of public risk. They have also pointed to the fact that now a pro-Israel group called Never Again Is Now has lodged an application to hold their own protest outside the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Now their application will be denied on the fact there is too little time and that location is dangerous. Another third option here as well is that the Palestine Action Group have made it clear they've negotiated with police and offered to police, I should say, that they are willing to delay this march for three weeks until Sunday, August 24th and then hold it on the same route that the World Pride March did back in 2023. That would be from Kirribilli to the Domain across the bridge, as I said, in three weeks time. We're still to hear a judgment on that, but in terms of the application for Sunday's March, Sandra, we will know, repeating at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.
