To see his loved one, not knowing she was already on site. The man was buried up to his waist for hours after a trench caved in during ongoing construction work Tuesday morning. It was a very complicated rescue. We had a lot of collapse of the trench that continued to happen as we tried to remove him. The Yarmouth fire chief said the first 911 calls came in shortly before 9 a.m. For the whole collapse, the restaurant was trapped. Two people were stuck inside and a third, who was able to free himself, was injured. Multiple fire departments and rescue teams worked through the afternoon to extract the trapped people. One died in the trench during the collapse. The other is now recovering at a Rhode Island trauma center as officials are investigating what led to the incident. For CBS Mornings, I'm Tom Hanson.
