The Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) has reported a historic surge in calls, with 3,676 requests for assistance in a 24-hour period. The floodwaters have necessitated the rescue of 35 individuals stranded on their vehicles as tumultuous rapids threaten their safety.

The relentless rain, coupled with strong winds, has isolated numerous communities, making normal life difficult. The force of the floodwaters has led to cars being flipped, trees uprooted, and streets submerged underwater. Despite the heavy toll, affected residents have shown resilience, beginning necessary clean-up efforts. However, these conditions have brought added threats, such as a sighting of a shark in the floodwaters of Talabudgera Creek, raising concerns about hidden dangers.

The weather crisis has also caused significant disruptions, resulting in nearly 200,000 people experiencing power outages. Efforts are underway to restore electricity, providing a modicum of relief in the trying situation. The dedication of emergency responders and the community's perseverance serve as beacons in these challenging times, as they work tirelessly to rebuild and restore normalcy.
