The town of Aster, situated on the Saint Johns River, is already experiencing significant flooding, with threats to riverfront properties.

Efforts are being coordinated with local, state, and federal governments to provide necessary relief and assistance. This includes partnerships to ensure that families affected by flooding receive support from FEMA and other resources. We all remember the scene after Hurricane Ian. This is video you can see me kayaking there from 2022. Of the flooded streets in parts of our area, while flooding is not expected to reach the same levels as Ian, residents are still worried about what could happen to their homes again. This threat comes as some neighborhoods are already underwater. Fox 35 Esther Bauer has a look at the devastation from Aster tonight. Grass is gone and water is taking over people's properties in the riverfront community that borders Lake and Volusia counties. Aster sits on the Saint Johns River and this flooding isn't finished. More homes could still be in jeopardy. Continue to pay attention. This isn't done. Hurricane Milton may be behind us, but small creeks and rivers surrounding the Saint Johns are starting to flush out all the excess water taking over the town with flooding. We saw water flooding most water from properties on Saturday. Fatio furniture sitting in standing water and parking lots now pools were around the clock operations, making sure that the people here, the residents here in Aster are secure and safe. The Volusia Sheriff and other state leaders are surveying the area. They are surveying flooding here on the Saint Johns River. Things are only expected to get worse. This week, the federal government is a partner with local government and state government and families. We want to make sure that the federal government does their part. Doing their part means making sure flooded families get assistance from FEMA and other resources. Senator Rick Scott says he's also touring devastated areas in Florida with President Biden on Sunday to make sure Florida has what it needs to rebuild and recover.
