Many have been caught in the firing line of the trade war between the United States and China, including U.S. chipmaker NVIDIA. But CEO Jensen Huang praised collaboration and China's innovators in a speech at the start of the event. The heroes of China's super fast innovation are your researchers, developers and entrepreneurs. More than one and a half million developers in China build on NVIDIA today to bring their innovations to life. The Trump administration reversed a ban on the sale of NVIDIA's H20 AI chips to China during trade negotiations on rare earth minerals. The semiconductors are less advanced than others made by the firm and are custom-made for the Chinese market. Washington says its controls on chips prevent them being used by China's military. Beijing says they're designed to disadvantage Chinese companies. Such practices disrupt the stability of global supply chains and are not in the interest of any party. The way artificial intelligence is transforming business is a central theme here. The Chinese government is betting on AI as a way to upgrade its economy and move away from manufacturing cheap goods. Chinese government is also the only government in this world that has pushed AI applications so hard. And if you look at the European government, any country you look at, or the American government, they are so afraid of AI displacement of the current workforce. So they're not really pushing that at all, and in many cases going against it. Chinese officials say US trade restrictions placed on Chinese companies are forcing them to become more competitive. No matter where the pressure is from, I think the growth of enterprise and the industry is through innovation. Through this expo, Beijing is sending the message that China is the anchor of global supply chains, and unlike the Trump administration says, it is not replaceable.
