A powerful thunderstorm swept through Sydney, producing strong winds, large hailstones, and heavy rainfall. The storm caused multiple trees to fall, including one at Croydon Park that landed on a car, trapping a teenager who was later rescued and taken to hospital with injuries.

The severe weather led to delays at Sydney Airport, where the International Terminal experienced flooding and ceiling damage. Weather warnings were issued for several areas but have since been lifted as conditions eased.

The driver was trapped in the crushed vehicle for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to free her. She gave a wave as she was pulled out and has now been taken to hospital with head and arm injuries. It was a very complicated rescue, taking over an hour, but with a very successful outcome. She really needs to buy a lottery ticket. Very lucky to come away unscathed like that. The severe thunderstorm, which prompted severe weather warnings for Gosford, Wyong, Sydney and the Greater Wollongong areas, brought with it very large hailstones. The heavy rain also impacted flights at Sydney Airport, with some arrivals and departures delayed. Meanwhile, the International Terminal has experienced flooding. Videos on social media show rain cascading from the roof inside the terminal. Sydney Airport says the weather caused some leaks and ceiling damage and contractors are tonight on site working to resolve the issue. Weather conditions have now begun to ease, with all severe weather warnings lifted.
