Local businesses, such as the Shelley Beach Boathouse, report that the birds' behaviour has worsened in recent months, with incidents of turkeys jumping on tables and biting customers in search of food.

Experts and authorities note that the increase in turkey numbers may be linked to human behaviour, such as feeding the birds or leaving food scraps accessible. The National Parks and Wildlife Service acknowledges the population rise and suggests that turkeys can be deterred without harm. The affected cafe is seeking public feedback and working with authorities to find a solution.

They're all the way around Manly everywhere. And they're on the move, spotted in Bondi, the inner west, even Campbelltown and the Blue Mountains. Turkeys are now moving into suburbs in Sydney where they haven't been seen for a few decades. Locals here say they've seen a dramatic increase in the pesky birds over the past five years, but experts say it's our behaviour that needs to change. We need to learn how to not feed them, not attract them to certain places. The boathouse wants public feedback as it searches for a solution. It's reached out to the National Parks and Wildlife Service, which acknowledge the population increase to 10 news, adding that the birds can be deterred as long as they're not harmed.
