Brisbane and Adelaide will be hosting their own New Year's Eve fireworks, with Brisbane including a drone show for the first time.

Brisbane will feature its first-ever drone show alongside traditional fireworks, with two drone performances scheduled at 9pm and 11pm, and fireworks displays at 7:45pm and midnight. Crowds have begun gathering along the Brisbane River, where 100,000 fireworks are set to light up the night.

In Adelaide, preparations are underway for South Australia's largest fireworks show, with 40,000 attendees expected and live music performances planned. The city will also host a major cricket match between Adelaide and Brisbane, and coastal locations are setting up additional fireworks displays for New Year's Eve.

Fireworks will start at 9pm, they've got more fireworks coming at 12am. The gates don't officially open till 5.30 but I've spoken to some revellers and they're keen to get the party started. Pretty excited to see the fireworks. We get the fireworks at 9 o'clock in the ground which is really fun. You can see them over the south stand so I probably won't stick around but I've heard it's a really great event. We've come from Darwin to come watch the cricket and spend New Year's in Adelaide.
