Boeing has announced its readiness to transport astronauts to the International Space Station (I.S.S.). The company stated that its Starliner capsule is prepared for launch, following an extensive period dedicated to addressing and resolving various setbacks.

From Fox 35 Mission Control, Boeing says it's ready to send astronauts to the International Space Station. Yeah, this mission has been in the works for years now. After months of troubleshooting, the company says the Starliner is ready for liftoff. Fox 35's Esther Bauer has our update tonight. Pressure is mounting for Boeing with two lives on the line. We test, test, and test. They have to because safety's been a setback for Starliner. The parachute system and the tape flammability issue that we had. For six months, Boeing's been busy updating a faulty parachute system on Starliner. They've added some stronger material and removed nearly a mile of tape that could have burst into flames. Part of bringing on a new crewed system is the human rating process and our certification process. Boeing says safety certifications are almost done and the vehicle is ready to send these two veteran astronauts to the International Space Station. Suni Williams has already spent over 300 days in space and is also a Florida Tech grad. She'll join Butch Wilmore, who's been in space for nearly 200 days and served in the Navy. If Starliner succeeds, NASA will have a new way to reach the ISS. We have two spacecraft now to be able to get us into orbit. NASA worked with Boeing to build the ISS years ago, but now the company's under fire for safety issues with their airplanes, like wheels falling off and a door blowing loose mid-flight. But NASA, still backing Boeing, now trying to assure people Starliner is different from the company's airplanes and will be safe. I just want to remind folks that this is not Boeing's first time to deal with human spaceflight safety. The crewed flight test will lift off from Launch Complex 41 in early May and should last about two weeks. Reporting in Brevard County, Esther Bauer, Fox 35 News.
