However, separate flash floods in the Wadi al-Nakhil area led to the tragic deaths of a Belgian mother and her son. These individuals were part of a tour group impacted by the surging waters.

Two other children from the Belgian family were located and found unharmed. Authorities recovered the bodies of the Belgian mother and son the following day after search operations resumed. Additionally, fourteen Czech tourists from the same group were rescued safely during the incident.

Flash floods are a known hazard in Jordan, with past deadly occurrences, including one in 2018 near Petra, underscoring the region's vulnerability to such natural events.
