The film focuses on just a few crucial years of the musician's life, kicking things off in 1976. During a time of political violence in Jamaica, Marley is planning a show to call for peace. That's when there's an assassination attempt on his life. He, his wife, and others survive the shooting and continue with the show. From there, the movie follows Marley's journey to the UK, the making of the Exodus album with the Wailers, and his success reaching new heights of stardom, despite signs of trouble. It just felt like a rich period of time, you know, as he gets his cancer diagnosis, before he gets too sick, to celebrate Bob, celebrate what he was singing for. Fans of Marley and the reggae scene as a whole say it's about time there was a biopic. There's a source of pride, you know, in many things, and a Jamaican boy doing what he did, Rasta man doing what he did. While he has high hopes for the film, many critics aren't feeling it. Reviewers say the movie is stunted, watered down, and anything but revolutionary. But giving the film a warmer reception are moviegoers that got an early look. The film was phenomenal. I feel like this movie kind of brought, you know, his soul and what his purpose was. You know, spreading that original message of love and peace. Send it my way, I'll be there.
