President Joe Biden scored a victory in the Democratic Party's first official contest of the 2024 election season by winning the South Carolina Democratic Primary in a landslide with over 96% of the vote.

Democrats spent years debating whether or not to move South Carolina up ahead of Iowa and New Hampshire. It was a move backed heavily by President Biden. The president was in South Carolina a week ago urging people to show up and vote. On Friday it was the vice president's turn. She told supporters the reason she and Biden are in the White House now is because of what happened in this state four years ago. South Carolina you are the first primary in the nation and President Biden and I are counting on you. We are counting on you. We are counting on you to vote and to get everyone you know to vote, to send out text messages, to knock on doors, and to make your voices heard. South Carolina allows for early voting so most voters may have cast their ballot ahead of election day. The state Democratic Party says it is excited to see a bigger investment in South Carolina especially given efforts to reshape the electoral map in future elections. I do believe if we keep this status we will definitely see a change.
