SailGP's season six opener delivered drama before racing even began. Artemis wing trimmer Chris Draper took stitches after a training crash. Spain was written out with major damage. Then, just over a minute in, disaster struck. Good start, you know, we're going down the first run in good shape, just below the Swiss, and then they just jived and just kept ramping up the turn rate straight at us. We did everything we could to keep clear. And then, obviously, kind of, bow went through a boat about a metre away from me. So, you know, I'm definitely pretty shaken up at the moment, pretty frustrated by the situation, but we just have to reveal it from here. Switzerland saw it differently. So we drive the boat and it's really hard, you know, it all happens really quick. We were clearly a right-of-way boat. We were on starboard for like more than three seconds until we met them. So once we realised, you know, there was no avoiding action from them, we did the best we could to avoid them. And yeah, it was pretty, pretty scary. New Zealand's out for Sunday. But through the chaos, Nathan Alteridge's Artemis team found magic. There was a bit of a hype about what we could do as a team. And, you know, a lot of internal pressure as well to try and come in and start well. And after race one, it wasn't looking so good. So it was nice that we bounced back and had three really good races to finish the day off. And, you know, for me, it's just a huge pleasure sailing with the people we put together. Two race wins later, they're on top. A brutal, brilliant opening day.
