An arctic front is set to bring the coldest air of the season to parts of the Southeast. A significant arctic front is moving through the southeastern United States, bringing a period of rain and mild temperatures before a sharp drop in temperatures. Cities such as Atlanta and Nashville are expected to see highs near 60°F and 51°F, respectively, before the front passes and temperatures fall to the mid-30s, marking the coldest air of the season for many areas.

Rain will extend from central Florida to Miami, where a record-tying high of 84°F was recently observed. As the front progresses, rain will transition to snow in higher elevations of North Carolina and northeastern Georgia, with rain showers also affecting the Atlanta Metro and northern North Carolina.

So let's kind of follow the progress of this front as it moves across the Ohio Valley, dropping down into Davidson County here in Nashville. There's your rain for 11 o'clock Wednesday morning and then eventually we'll see that rain start up in places like Asheville, North Carolina, but then change over to snow as we feel that colder air moving into the smokies in the high country of North Carolina rain showers all the way down to the Atlanta Metro. But yes, maybe a touch of blue up there in the higher elevations across northeastern Georgia and you can see just a little bit of snow up there in northern North Carolina as well.
