I was conscious until I got into surgery. I heard a cop screaming, I got shot, I got shot. So he said, I quickly ran over to him, I took the shirt off my back and quickly tourniqueted. So Lebo says, let me do it. Give me your gun. Give me your gun. I'm licensed. I'm trained. As he was doing that, Lebo himself got shot. Lebo was in Australia to intern with Rabbi Ilay Schlanger, who was laid to rest yesterday. He saw Rabbi Eli get shot and Rabbi Eli was his mentor. As we were talking to Lebo, he says, I wish I could have done more. After two surgeries, Lazaroff is now fighting an infection. Your son could have died. He is still in critical condition. He has a road ahead. There are still more surgeries. And his parents have a message for leaders everywhere. It needs to be a wake up call. Speech and hate speech is not just free speech.
