Lifeline by sea, a small convoy of aid ships operated by the Spanish charity Open Arms en route from Cyprus to Gaza, carrying precious cargo for people close to starvation. We have canned products. We have flour, rice. We have dates. And these will be arriving the next days for the people of Gaza, specifically for the people of north. We are doing airdrops, and now we are doing this because there is not enough aid arriving to Gaza, and we need to open as many ways as possible. Gaza needs hundreds of tons of food aid a day, and it's not feasible to deliver that volume by air or sea. But trucks haven't been able to bring enough in either, while Israel controls access to the enclave. Between the 1st and the 22nd of March, one quarter of 40 humanitarian aid missions into northern Gaza were denied. So, let's be clear. Life-saving aid is being obstructed. Lives are being lost. Dignity is being denied. Israel is under constant international pressure to open the gates. I believe that Israel must allow massive unimpeded aid access to Gaza, as demanded by the International Court of Justice. Israel must also open all land crossings immediately and unconditionally. In the early hours of Saturday, a rush to reach an aid delivery in Gaza City led to a stampede and gunfire. Several people were killed and dozens more injured. Evidence of the sheer desperation that set in as the UN warns famine is imminent.
