A﻿ 42-year-old man has been arrested at San Remo on the NSW Central Coast after a police car was rammed during an alleged domestic violence dispute, sparking a manhunt.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in San Remo, NSW, where a man was reportedly threatening a woman with a knife in the street. The woman sustained facial fractures and other injuries and was treated in hospital before being released. The man, aged 42, attempted to flee the scene by ramming police vehicles and was shot in the arm during the confrontation. He escaped in a vehicle, later abandoned it, and continued on foot before being apprehended by police after a second taser attempt. The man is currently under guard in hospital, and police anticipate laying several serious charges against him.

Officers were called to a Gorama Avenue home around 5am where a man was said to be standing in the middle of the road wielding a knife, screaming profanities at a female threatening to kill her. The female victim has sustained fractures to her face and other injuries. She has been treated at hospital has been released. 10 News understands the victim moved interstate to escape the troubled relationship but it's not the first time the man's visited her new home. Her family says she's shaken but doing all right. Meanwhile the 42 year old man rammed two police vehicles in an attempt to flee. Police did try to discharge a taser whilst the man was in the car that was unsuccessful. A second police officer has discharged a firearm and the man managed to evade police. Shot in the arm he then escaped in a grey Mitsubishi station wagon ditching the car in the nearby suburb of Gorican before continuing on foot. Polar circled above as he jumped back fences and using bicep wound mapping his path. Police driving up and down the street slowly looking through the houses and what have you and then the next thing a police on the motorbike saw a man just across the street, get on the ground, get on the ground. Again a taser was discharged and this time the male was successfully apprehended by police. Doctors too were flown in here to Waiyong Leagues Club car park to help treat the man who was worked on in the back of an ambulance for some time for injuries sustained during his arrest. He is under guard at hospital. Our investigators will work through that today. I anticipate a number of serious charges will be preferred against that male at the earliest opportunity.
