This year's Cincinnati Open at the Linder Family Tennis Center has undergone significant upgrades, including the construction of a new clubhouse and a major expansion of the tournament grounds. The campus has doubled in size from 20 to 40 acres, and the number of courts has increased from 17 to 31, accommodating a larger field of players.

The singles draw has also expanded from 56 to 96 players, reflecting the tournament's growing stature as a key lead-up event to the US Open. Players, including US Open champion Sloane Stephens, have praised the improved facilities, noting the enhanced player services, new gym, and increased space for both competitors and fans.

A look into the upgrades at this year's Cincinnati Open

44 right now in the Cincinnati Open continues this weekend. Some of the tennis greats are going to be out there hitting the courts at the Linder Family Tennis Center and two not so greats cam and me. Yeah, but we had a really good time and a once in a lifetime opportunity to ask the hard hitting questions. Also getting a chance to hit the ball. When it comes to tennis in the US, New York City is the Mecca. Absolutely, but for two weeks here in Cincinnati, the greatest players on the planet will be right here on center court. Or at least that's ultimately the goal to earn a spot on center court at the finals of the Cincinnati Open. Players face nearly two weeks of match play. Cam and I would never make it, but today we're here and in the presence of greatness hitting with Sloan Stevens. Stevens is a US Open women's champion. She met us on a new and improved center court as the tournament is in full swing and says this is the lead up to the US Open. We here in Cincinnati like to call this the mini US Open. Yeah, it's kind of the lead up to it. You've usually got all the best players in the world. You guys as players think that as well. Definitely, I mean now for sure, this might even be better than the US Open with these facilities, but OK, we're going to clip that. The facilities are impressive to players and fans alike. Definitely seeing the clubhouse. Obviously this was built in 11 months, which is like the craziest thing I've ever heard. The clubhouse is incredible. Just a new player services area. The food, the new gym. This is a lot bigger. Last year we had 20 acres for our campus this year. There's 40, so we basically doubled in size. In 2023 we had 17 total courts. Now we have 31 courts. Wow, so much more space. We have more players this year. We had 56 players per singles draw. This year it's 96, so we have basically doubled in size across the board. And I'd say doubled in size and fun too. Because tennis, although hard and competitive mentally and physically tough, yours, oh, that was totally mine, is also just fun. I live across from a club and I just rode my bike every day and it was just fun and I started playing in a summer camp and I've been playing ever since. Do you like that one? It's like yours. That's always my problem with doubles. Oh you are getting that two or three steps. No, no thank you. Oh, she was so gracious to go out and hit with us and we had no idea that was happening. That was the thing. And so we showed up and they were like we got a special surprise for you. Cam was going to cry. I was just like, are you kidding me? Stallone Stevens. It was wild and she said that she really. She got her start. Same thing. Parents introducing her to the sport, but then also doing some kids camps. And we showed earlier in the show getting kids out there when they're young. It really makes a difference because I don't even really remember learning how to play. I know it's funny. You don't remember those first few years, and then it's like there's like one big memory. I remember I was hitting with my mom and she would always do like she'd be on one side of the court and she'd be like OK, where do you hit it? Since I'm not over there and that is like stuck into my mind forever. But it's those memories and like the kids, the kids day out at the Cincinnati Open yesterday is just another way to get those kids involved in tennis. I'm not pickleball, so we'll leave it at that.
