One person was injured after two boats caught fire near Put-in-Bay Saturday afternoon, according to the Put-in-Bay Fire Department.

A boat exploded in Put-in-Bay while it was filled with gas, causing the owner to jump overboard. The drifting boat then set another nearby boat on fire. The owner of the exploded boat sustained injuries and was airlifted from the island for treatment. Both boats were destroyed in the incident, but the fires were extinguished by the local fire department.

According to the Put-In-Bay Fire Department, the owner of the boat jumped off but the boat drifted out and set another boat on fire. The owner of the boat that exploded was injured and he was rescued and taken by life flight off the island. The fires were put out. The fire department says both boats seemed to be a total loss.
