It's no secret that it's difficult to get on Europe's property ladder these days, but, surprisingly, extortionate house prices aren't the only reason people are choosing to rent. Europe in Motion unpacks the latest European Housing Trend report.

Rising property prices across Europe are making homeownership increasingly difficult, with studies indicating a shift in attitudes toward renting. On average, it takes 7.3 years to save for a deposit, and in some countries, such as Germany, this rises to 10 years. 

Many Europeans are choosing to rent not only due to financial constraints but also for lifestyle reasons. Over half of those not planning to buy are satisfied with renting, while others cite a desire to avoid the responsibilities of ownership or to maintain mobility, especially in countries with large foreign resident populations.
