An estimated crowd of hundreds of thousands of mourners is expected to gather, alongside attendance from 130 official delegations. To ensure safety, thousands of police officers will be deployed, with reinforcements arriving from various Italian regions as well as security personnel accompanying the foreign delegations.

The area surrounding the Vatican and the funeral procession route will be under stringent security, addressing potential threats by air, land, and sea. Health measures also have been established by the Lazio region as part of the overall planning for the event. Pope Francis, who recently passed away at the age of 88 after a hospitalization due to double pneumonia, will be honored with the ceremony held at St. Peter's Square.

World leaders, such as Argentine President Javier Mele, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, will attend alongside representatives from 130 presidencies, including 10 royals and many prime ministers and ambassadors. The conclave to elect Pope Francis' successor is set to commence in the coming weeks, observing current norms.
