With a more accurate baseline, a sea level rise of just over one meter could inundate up to 37 percent more land and threaten an additional 77 million to 132 million people. The study notes that the risk is especially significant in Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific, while Europe and Atlantic coasts are less affected.
