The warehouse, currently used as an Amazon logistics center, was purchased by DHS for $129 million, more than twice its assessed value. State officials argue the facility is unfit for detention purposes and would strain local resources, while DHS states the site will meet detention standards and undergo community impact studies. Roxbury and New Jersey remain plaintiffs in the ongoing legal challenge.
