Civil defence workers responded to fires in homes and a car following the incident. The organization and other NGOs have documented at least 250 uses of white phosphorus by Israel along the Lebanese border since October 2023.

White phosphorus, which ignites on contact with oxygen, can cause severe and potentially fatal burns. While not explicitly banned, its use is illegal under international law when deployed over civilian areas. Israel has previously stated it uses the substance as a smokescreen and not to target civilians.
