Authorities in 16 African countries have arrested 651 individuals as part of an eight-week operation targeting a major cybercrime network, Interpol announced. The network is accused of swindling over $45 million from hundreds, possibly thousands, of victims, most of whom are in Africa.

The operation, conducted in December and January, also resulted in the seizure of 2,341 devices and the shutdown of 1,442 malicious IPs, domains, and servers. The scams included high-yield investment fraud, mobile money fraud, and fraudulent mobile loan applications.
