John and Doreen McLaughlin of Jindabyne, New South Wales, have illuminated their home with Christmas lights for 37 years. This year, their display is powered by a newly installed 25 kilowatt home battery from Origin, which stores solar energy generated during the day for use at night.

Origin estimates the battery will save the couple approximately $2,200 annually on electricity costs. The display, which requires extensive planning and supports local community events, continues to attract visitors and now operates more efficiently thanks to the battery technology.
