Meteorologists predict that heat and severe weather will coincide in the Plains and Midwest regions early next week. A dip in the jet stream over the western United States will push warm air into these areas, while a cold front from the Canadian prairies will bring the risk of severe storms, including hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

The severe weather threat is expected to begin late Monday and continue into Tuesday, becoming more widespread before a brief lull midweek. By Friday and into the following weekend, the risk of storms and high temperatures is expected to return as weather patterns shift again.
