The Santa Ana winds, known for increasing wildfire risk in Southern California, are reportedly calming. While there are still concerns about wildfire activity, especially in San Diego County, the weakened winds may assist firefighting efforts. However, the air remains exceptionally dry, maintaining high fire danger for the region.

In recent times, firefighters have managed small grass fires in the Los Angeles area swiftly, ensuring no major developments northward. For San Diego County, at least one fire has been contained, and efforts continue to manage others. Despite these achievements, the conditions remain ripe for new fires due to the persistent dryness.

Forecasts indicate that while there may be some rain over the weekend, expectations should remain measured. Rain showers could start, with possible thunderstorms, bringing approximately a quarter to a half-inch of rain, which is considered manageable. Concerns about potential mudslides and debris flows exist, particularly in areas affected by previous fires. Nonetheless, the anticipated rain is unlikely to cause such issues at this time.
