The recent death of actor James Van Der Beek and the disclosure of Catherine O'Hara's private battle with colorectal cancer have led to a significant rise in public interest in the disease. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance reported that usage of its free screening tool has tripled and overall website traffic has increased by 83%.

Medical experts note that colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death among Americans under 50, with risk factors including diet, lifestyle, and genetics. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force now recommends beginning screening at age 45, and individuals with additional risk factors may need to start even earlier.
