Consumer confidence, as measured by the Conference Board, increased in March to 91.8, surpassing expectations and marking the highest level since December of the previous year. The present situation index also showed improvement, while the expectations index, though above forecast, was slightly lower than the previous month.

Meanwhile, the U.S. job openings for February, reported by the JOLTS survey, fell to 6.882 million, which was below the anticipated figure. However, January's job openings were revised upward to 7.24 million, the highest since May of the previous year, mitigating concerns over February's lower number.
