Local officials, including County Commissioner Brian Scott and State Representative Linda Cheney, attribute the decline to a reaction to the storms rather than a long-term trend, citing projections of future growth. However, the county is also facing declining school enrollments and concerns about housing affordability, with some leaders calling for limits on private equity firms purchasing homes.
