After initially discovering a lump and undergoing surgery, Galuli waited two months for her first oncology appointment, exceeding the national four-week benchmark. 

Provincial data indicates that only 63 percent of new cancer patients in British Columbia see an oncologist within the recommended timeframe. While BC Cancer reports improvements in radiation therapy wait times, the province still has the longest waits in Canada. Efforts to address the issue include hiring more staff and planning new cancer centres, but officials acknowledge ongoing strain on the system.
