Joanne made the difficult decision to send Austin for help after their kayak capsized more than two miles from shore.

Austin swam for hours, driven by prayer and positive thoughts, until he reached land and called for help, unsure of his family's fate. Rescue crews eventually located and saved the family, with Joanne expressing relief at their survival and Austin crediting his training for their endurance.
