Exposed to freezing temperatures and snow, many are experiencing homelessness and harsh winter conditions for the first time as they seek official recognition as minors.

During the day, some migrants find temporary refuge at humanitarian centers such as the Dido shelter run by the Salvation Army. Despite the growing number of young people sleeping outside, Paris authorities continue to call for all camp residents to be provided with proper shelter.

But despite the cold, exhaustion and uncertainty, the migrants say they are determined to keep going. There's no choice but to keep going. You have to just stay strong, make sure that you don't die, you know. We can't do anything about the cold. I'm not used to this at all. I'm just a person, but we manage somehow and there's no other option. Most of the migrants here are from Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mali. For many of them, it's their first time living on the streets. Exposed to the cold, they face a new harsh reality far from home. I've never lived outside before, so I didn't know how it would go. But I was given a bit of explanation, saying that in the cold it would be very difficult. Still, we didn't expect the cold to find us out here. During the day, many migrants seek refuge at centres like the Dido humanitarian shelter, run by the Salvation Army. The coordinator says they arrive with mixed emotions. For many, it's their first time seeing snow, so there's both excitement at seeing something so unusual they've never seen before, and yet knowing that in the evening they'll still be outside, sleeping under the snow. So yes, there was a very strange mix of emotions yesterday, when they saw the snow for the first time. Despite the growing number of young migrants sleeping on the streets, Paris authorities continue to urge that all camp residents be provided shelter.
