Do you believe that this was tied into your current role as DA? There's no doubt there's no doubt in my mind. Dupree's been the district attorney in Wyandotte County for nine years. That's not about criticism. That is about hate and it's not OK. Over time, he's faced criticism from those who've lost faith in the system. Recent incidents include the death of Charles Adair, who died in the Wyandotte County Jail in July. A Wyandotte County Sheriff's deputy is charged in connection to the case. Dupree's office issued the deputy summons instead of an arrest warrant. He said there were several components he had to consider, including time and outside agencies. I don't have to deal with the politics of a law enforcement officer arresting a law enforcement officer or having the fight on. If they agree or disagree, I can serve him. He's charged and now I can do my job. He also addressed scrutiny he's facing over a recent case dismissal. A judge threw out charges of a child sex abuse suspect, saying the defendant failed to get a speedy trial. Dupree says there wasn't a policy in place requiring probation officers to file arrest warrants. Now there is this situation. It sucks because of victim. Suffered because of systems failure through high profile concerns and signs of hostility. Dupree's leaning on his faith. He's also trying to restore faith in the system.
