Some countries were able to strike deals before the deadline, including South Korea and Japan. The EU faces 15% on most goods imported into the US, and although they had avoided double that rate threatened by Trump months ago, many European leaders are unhappy. The EU Commission President has made commitments to America that are beyond her authority. All European products imported to the US will face 15% tariffs and no levies on goods from America. What kind of an agreement is this? Donald Trump says his aim is to address trade imbalances that are unfavorable to the US, and has promised the tariffs will boost the US economy and create jobs. Critics however warn the tariffs could harm America's global standing and increase inflation both domestically and abroad.
