North Carolina

A wintry mix of snow and freezing rain is forecast to move through the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly affecting areas such as Richmond, Roanoke, and Greensboro. The precipitation is expected to begin overnight and continue through Friday morning, with the potential to disrupt both morning and evening commutes.

Accumulations are expected to be light overall, with most areas receiving 1-3 inches of snow, though some localized spots could see up to 3-5 inches. The event is expected to taper off by Friday evening, but even minor ice accumulation could create hazardous driving conditions.

So as we go through time this is overnight Thursday so a lot of this is going to be happening while you're sleeping. You're going to wake up Friday morning hopefully not at 5 a.m. hopefully you get to sleep a little bit later than that but it will be coming down in Richmond and Roanoke and Greensboro but again it's all going to very much be on the light side. Obviously with snow you always have someone that loves to overachieve. We always have an overachiever when it does come to the snow and then that is going to pull out as we head late in the day on Friday. So the big question is are you going to get snow? Are you going to get freezing rain? Are you going to get a mix? So depending on how thick this warm air is in the atmosphere will determine exactly what you get for us. Obviously if it's cold then you get all snow but even just some patchy glaze here could really be detrimental to those of you driving on the road. So this is tonight through Saturday morning but as you saw it really tapers off as we head into our Friday evening. A nice stousing of one to three even three to five.
