More than $100 million in dollars meant for Washington families hangs in the balance amid new moves from the Trump administration to take back funding for initiatives aimed at creating cleaner air and water.

This program, established under the Inflation Reduction Act, was intended to provide residential solar power to hundreds of thousands of low-income households nationwide, with Washington set to receive approximately $156 million.

The Commerce Department has already invested in project groundwork, and it remains uncertain if legal action will be taken to challenge the decision. 9 53. We're hearing reaction from state leaders after the Trump administration terminated a $7 billion grant program for clean energy. The solar for all initiative, part of the Inflation Reduction Act passed by the Biden administration in 2024 grants were set aside to deliver residential solar power to hundreds of thousands of low income households across the country. And here in Washington plans were already in the works to put those funds to good use. At the end of the day, Washington is going to get robbed of about $156 million. And these are dollars that would have lowered bills, created more jobs, and also cleaned up our air as well. So in a time where the bear gulch is in flames, at a time where we know the energy costs are going up, our communities will be impacted because of these decisions at the federal level. Now critics say this points to the Trump administration's continuing efforts to rescind regulations that protect clean air and water. This was an optional program. These are people that had projects ready to go, bipartisan, not controversial, deploying hundreds, if not thousands of megawatts of energy. And now it's going to be taken away. So in a space that can be controversial, this was the least controversial way of being able to get solar deployed. And now that will be impacted. The Commerce Department says it's already out a half million dollars laying the groundwork for the projects to get underway. And it's not clear whether the state attorney general will challenge the termination of those funds in court. Happening right now, cyclists are obliterating their quads, all for cancer research, as this year's Obliteride returns to Seattle. This is a cancer fundraiser with all the proceeds going to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. They have 25, 50, and 100 mile bike races. The 100 miler started at 6.30 this morning. Each race starts at U-Dub and ends at Gasworks Park. Each cyclist is rocking an orange jersey out there. There's also a 5k walk run from U-Dub to Gasworks.
