American Vogue has named Chloe Malle as its new head of editorial content, taking over from Anna Wintour. Malle, 39, has spent more than a decade at Vogue, most recently as editor of Vogue.com and co-host of the podcast "The Run-Through."

Chloe Malle has been appointed as the new head of editorial content for American Vogue, following a decision by longtime editor Anna Wintour to partially step back from her U.S. leadership role. Malle, who has previously led Vogue.com and co-hosted its podcast, was selected by Wintour for the position and will now oversee the magazine’s editorial direction.

Anna Wintour, who has led Vogue for nearly four decades, will remain with the publication as its global editorial director. Malle, a Franco-American and daughter of filmmaker Louis Malle and actress Candice Bergen, has expressed enthusiasm for the mentorship and support from Wintour as she aims to guide Vogue through the evolving digital and influencer landscape.

From the role of Queen of Fashion to that of Queen Mother. After nearly four decades at the helm of Vogue magazine fashion icon Anna Wintour has at least partially passed the baton to Chloe Mall. Stepping into the slingback pumps of the most powerful person in fashion the 39-year-old was head of Vogue.com and the co-host of its podcast the run-through before being handpicked by Wintour to become head of editorial content for American Vogue. Gone is the title of editor-in-chief but the 75-year-old Wintour is not retiring. The powerhouse who inspired the book and film The Devil Wears Prada will remain in her office just down the hall from Mall's in the role of global editorial director. In the announcement made on Vogue's website Mall said she is not on pins and needles about Wintour staying on. She said she's happy about having her mentor remain her boss all the while aiming for what she calls a notable shift to make this mine. The Franco-American is well established in New York society. A self-proclaimed proud Nepo baby she is the daughter of French filmmaker Louis Mall who's known for his films such as Au Revoir Les Enfants and The Lovers. Her mother is American actress Candice Bergen who coincidentally played the role of editor-in-chief of Vogue on Sex and the City. A graduate of comparative literature from Brown University Mall joined Vogue in 2011. Now holding the reins of the so-called bible of fashion her challenge will be to ensure the 133-year-old glossy magazine retains its place in this next chapter of the digital AI and influencer age.
