Australian Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri will begin the sprint race at the American Grand Prix in Texas from third position on the grid. His teammate, Lando Norris, will start from second, while Max Verstappen has claimed pole position. 

Piastri described his qualifying lap as 'a little bit messy' but expressed hope to improve for the main race. The American Grand Prix is one of six events in the season to feature a sprint race prior to the main event.
