Uzbekistan has announced a €9.46 billion package of renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including 42 new generation storage and grid initiatives. The projects, unveiled at an energy forum in Tashkent, involve collaboration with international energy developers and financial institutions from countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Azerbaijan, France, and China.

With these investments, Uzbekistan's green energy output is expected to reach 23 billion kilowatt-hours in the coming year, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of the entire population. The country has seen €30 billion in foreign investment in its energy sector since 2017, and is transitioning to a greener energy mix with expanded private sector involvement and upgraded infrastructure.

Uzbekistan has unveiled a sweeping package of new renewable storage and grid projects, mainly built with leading international energy developers. During an energy forum in Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirzoyev announced the launch of 42 new generation storage and infrastructure projects worth 9.46 billion euros, and he also gave the official start to the construction of 21 more. With these investments coming online, the green energy output will reach 23 billion kilowatt-hours next year, enough to fully cover the annual electricity need of the entire population. The new projects include 16 solar, wind, thermal and hydropower plants, along with 10 large energy storage systems, energy companies and international financial institutions from several countries, among them Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Azerbaijan, France, China and others collaborate with Uzbekistan for these projects. Over recent years, 30 billion euros in foreign investment has flowed into Uzbekistan's energy sector, raising electricity production from 60 to 85 billion kilowatt-hours since 2017. One of the key points of all those projects, we are pushing efforts on green energy, on renewable energy. International companies are also expanding their presence in Uzbekistan's energy market. We have been the largest investors in energy sector, over 15 billion dollar worth of investments which we have done. The energy mix of Uzbekistan is changing, it's becoming greener and greener every year. We signed the investment agreement for the first 200 megawatt, 100 megawatt of wind, 100 megawatt of storage, and we'll come afterwards, 300 megawatt with wind and solar. One regional grid has already been transferred to private management, and several more will follow over the next few years. Uzbekistan is entering a new phase of its energy transformation. From solar and wind stations to modern storage systems and upgraded power grids, the scale of the new and ongoing projects reflects the country's broadest shift towards a clearer and more resilient infrastructure.
