The mining company was accused of purchasing minerals from the militia and selling them internationally. The U.S. government cited a UN report noting Pareko FF's involvement in military operations alongside the Congolese army against the M23 group. The measures are intended to disrupt illicit mineral trade and address armed group financing in the region.
